Cookie Policy
Last updated: June 12, 2026
The short version: we use one localStorage item to remember your cookie choice, Stripe's cookies to protect your payment, Google Analytics to understand site usage, and the Meta Pixel to measure our ads — and you can switch the last two off with one click in our banner. Here's the complete list.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser to remember something about you — a preference, a session, or an anonymous identifier. Alongside cookies we also use localStorage, a similar browser technology that stores data locally on your device (we use it to remember your cookie choice itself). This page lists everything we use and why.
2. Strictly necessary
These are required for the site and checkout to function, and are therefore always active:
- nightveil-cookie-consent (localStorage, set by us) — remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics and advertising. Kept until you clear your browser data.
- Stripe cookies (set by Stripe on checkout.stripe.com during payment) — session and fraud-prevention cookies that protect your payment. Governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
3. Analytics
Used to understand how the site is used, so we can improve it. Loaded only if you haven't declined via the banner:
- _ga (Google Analytics, ~14 months) — distinguishes visitors with a random ID.
- _ga_* (Google Analytics, ~14 months) — keeps session state for our specific GA4 property.
4. Advertising
Used to measure whether our Facebook/Instagram ads lead to visits and purchases, and to improve ad delivery. Loaded only if you haven't declined:
- _fbp (Meta, ~90 days) — distinguishes browsers for ad measurement.
- _fbc (Meta, ~90 days) — stores the ad click reference if you arrived via a Facebook or Instagram ad.
5. How consent works on this site
On your first visit a banner offers two choices: Accept or Decline. Your choice is stored in your browser and applied on every future visit.
If you decline: Google Analytics is disabled via Google Consent Mode, the Meta Pixel stops sending events, and no new analytics or advertising cookies are set. Strictly necessary items keep working — the store can't function without them.
Want to change your earlier choice? Clear this site's data in your browser settings (the banner will reappear), or email info@nightveilmask.com and we'll register your preference manually.
6. Other ways to control tracking
Beyond our banner, you have independent controls:
- Browser settings — every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies per site (look under Privacy settings).
- Google opt-out — install the GA opt-out add-on via tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Meta ad preferences — manage how Meta uses data from websites in your Facebook/Instagram settings under "Ad preferences".
- YourAdChoices — opt out of interest-based advertising across many networks at optout.aboutads.info.
7. Server-side measurement
Besides cookies, we confirm completed purchases to Meta server-to-server (the "Conversions API") so our ad statistics stay accurate. The data involved is hashed (irreversibly scrambled) before it is sent and is described in section 7 of our Privacy Policy at nightveilmask.com/privacy. Declining via the cookie banner is registered in your browser; to also be excluded from server-side measurement, email us.
8. Changes & contact
When we add or remove tools, this page is updated and the "Last updated" date changes. Questions about cookies or tracking: info@nightveilmask.com.
